If you like horses, then this is the place for you! At Diamond M Ranch campers 12-16 years old are paired with a horse, and spend two weeks engaged in the special bond that forms between horse and rider.

Campers will learn all the basics of western style horsemanship. For those that already know the basics, there will be plenty of advanced skills and learning to keep everyone challenged! Our well trained and experienced staff who know our horses intimately, and ensure that every ranch camper has a safe, comfortable, yet challenging experience regardless of the horsemanship skills they bring with them.

Campers will be assigned to riding groups that meet each riders level of experience, and throughout the course of two weeks as that horse and rider relationship strengthens, campers will improve their skills and horse knowledge. Campers will be with their horse for half of each day. During this time they will be tacking, trail riding, lesson riding, grooming, assisting in minor vet care, learning horse anatomy and breed specialties, feeding, cleaning stalls, and helping to maintain the barn and all the equipment. During the other half of the day, campers may choose to join in activities with traditional camp, or remain at the barns helping out as needed with routine barn chores. Campers will also share in the responsibility of morning feedings prior to breakfast. If you wish to ride, you must take pride and share in the responsibility of taking care of a herd of horses!

Horsemanship requires a great deal of dedication, skill, and knowledge. Beginners will want to strive to gain the skills and knowledge needed to get their white neckerchief. Those that continue in the program will want to continue their study of horsemanship and try to gain the skills and knowledge needed to get the yellow, and then the red neckerchief. Only a select few will gain the experience required to have the honor of sporting the blue neckerchief! Our Neckerchief program is recognized throughout camp and is a source of great pride for the ranch campers and staff.

On the closing day of each session the Diamond M. Ranch hosts a rodeo for parents to attend. At the rodeo parents can meet their child's horse and see their child ride and compete in different rodeo events. More information about closing day can be found in the parent handbook. You can check rates and dates or register now. More info is available at the ranch FAQ page. If you love horses, this is the program for you!

Diamond M. Rodeo
The Diamond M. Ranch proudly presents a Rodeo to close out each session. We invite parents and families of our Ranch camper to attend our Diamond M Rodeo where you can watch the campers show off their refined equestrian skills as they ride and compete for ribbons in various rodeo events including a halter show and barrel racing. This has been a crowd favorite event in summer's past that is often highlighted by a Drill Team exhibition.

For more information on closing day check out our parent handbook. At the rodeo you can also meet the Ranch Staff and Diamond M horses while enjoying some snacks and refreshments. We strongly encourage parents, family and friends to attend with cameras in hand. After two long hard weeks of barn work and classes we like to kick up our heels Western style for some cowboy and cowgirl fun!
